Themes

Themes control the visual appearance of the Tree interface. The core feature set includes light and dark themes; Paid and Team tiers support custom themes (see Custom themes).

Built-in themes

Tree ships with two built-in themes:

• Light: pale backgrounds, dark text, suitable for bright environments and printed exports
• Dark: dark backgrounds, light text, suitable for low-light environments and reduced eye strain during long sessions

Both themes preserve the same color semantics for node states (locked, available, in-progress, complete) so the graph remains readable regardless of theme.

Switching themes

Users can switch themes:

• Manually via the workspace settings or a keyboard shortcut
• By system preference (auto-detect the operating system's light/dark mode setting and follow it)
• Per time of day (light during the day, dark at night, on a configurable schedule)

Theme preference is per-user. In a team workspace, each user has their own theme setting.

Tier availability

Light and dark themes are part of the core feature set, available on Free, Paid, and Team. Custom themes (user-defined color palettes) are a Paid feature, available on Paid and Team.
