Project sharing
Read-only public links that let non-users view a project without an account.
Project sharing generates a read-only public link that lets non-users view a Tree project without creating an account. Project sharing is a Paid feature available on Paid and Team tiers.
What a shared link shows
A read-only public link displays:
- The graph view of the project with full node and edge rendering
- Node detail panels when a viewer clicks a node
- The list view if the viewer switches to it
- Custom fields and descriptions as configured by the project owner
The viewer cannot:
- Edit or comment on any node
- See activity history, comments, or assignments (Team features)
- Access other projects in the workspace
- Authenticate or be tracked back to a Tree account
Sharing controls
When generating a share link, the owner can configure:
- Expiration: link expires after a set period or remains active indefinitely
- Password protection: viewers must enter a password before accessing the project
- Visibility filters: hide specific node types, branches, or status states from the share
- Watermark or attribution: optional branding on the shared view
The share link can be revoked at any time. Revoking immediately invalidates the link for all viewers.
When sharing is useful
Read-only sharing is useful for:
- Stakeholder updates: showing project state without onboarding stakeholders to Tree
- Client communication: sharing a project's structure without granting edit access
- Portfolio or case study: making a project visible publicly as an example
- Cross-team visibility: letting another team see the work without joining the workspace
Tier availability
Project sharing is a Paid feature, available on Paid and Team. Free does not include public sharing.
