PDF export

Exporting a project as a formatted PDF document.

PDF export produces a formatted PDF document of a project. The PDF includes the project's visible structure, node content, and any rendered views (graph or list).

What the PDF includes

A PDF export typically contains:

  • A cover page with the project name and metadata
  • A rendered view of the graph or list, whichever was active when the export was triggered
  • Per-node detail with titles, descriptions, custom fields, and status
  • Edge relationships annotated alongside the relevant nodes
  • Optional appendices like comments (Team) or time tracking summaries (Paid)

The PDF is paginated and formatted for printing or sharing as a static document.

When to use PDF export

PDF is the right format for:

  • Sharing with non-users: stakeholders or clients who don't have Tree access
  • Archiving in a fixed format: a snapshot that won't change even as the project evolves
  • Printing: physical copies for offline reference
  • Compliance documentation: when a static, verifiable record is required

For machine-readable backups, use JSON export instead. For visuals only, use Image export.

Tier availability

PDF export is part of the core feature set, available on Free, Paid, and Team.
